  2. 500 gms Mutton
  3. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
  5. 1 tsp Chili powder
  6. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  7. as per taste Salt
  8. 1 tbsp Curd
  9. For masala paste :
  10. 4 garlic cloves
  11. 1 inch ginger piece
  12. 3 green chili
  13. leaves few coriander
  14. leaves few mint
  15. For biryani :
  16. 1 1/2 cup Basmati Rice
  17. 2 tbsp Oil
  18. 2 tbsp ghee
  19. 2 bay leaf
  20. 1 inch cinnamon stick
  21. 4 cloves
  22. 1 star anise
  23. 1 black cardamom
  24. 2 green cardamom
  25. 1 small piece stone flower
  26. 1 tsp saunf
  27. 1 large onion
  28. 1 large tomato
  29. 1 tsp coriander powder
  30. 2 tbsp mint leaves, chopped
  31. 2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
  32. 1 1/2 cup coconut milk, thick and thin milk extracted from 3/4 cup grated coconut
  33. 1 1/2 cup water
  34. as per taste salt

Instructions to make to make Pressure Cooker Mutton Biryani

  1. Clean and drain the mutton. Take mutton pieces in a bowl along with other ingredients mentioned for marination. Mix it well and let it marinate for one hour or overnight in the fridge.
  2. In a mixer jar take all the roughly chopped ingredients mentioned for masala paste. Add little water and grind to a smooth paste.
  3. In a pressure cooker big enough to cook the rice heat oil and ghee. Add in whole spices mentioned and saute for 30 seconds.
  4. Add in sliced onion and saute until they are golden brown. Add in prepared masala paste and saute until raw smell goes away.
  5. Add in chopped tomato and salt. Saute until tomatoes are soft. Add in marianted mutton and mix it well to coat with the masala and let it cook.
  6. Meanwhile wash and soak basmati rice. Once the water is released from mutton and is evaporating, add in coriander powder, mint leaves and coriander leaves. Saute it well.
  7. Add 1/2 cup water just to cover the mutton and pressure cook it for 4-5 whistles until mutton is cooked well. Once pressure reduces, check if the mutton is tender and cooked well. Cook for 1 or 2 whistles if mutton is not tender. Add in remaining 1 cup water and 1 1/2 cup coconut milk and let it come to a boil.
  8. When it comes to boil check for salt and adjust. Add in drained rice and let it cook. Once water is almost evaporated cover with lid and cook on low flame for 8 minutes.
  9. Once pressure reduce open the lid and gently fluff up the rice. Mutton Biryani is ready to serve.
  10. Serve hot and delicious Mutton Biryani with raita and boiled eggs.
